Between the Lines

The project entailed an intensive engagement with Waswo. X. Waswo’s Collection of prints, the exploration of a curatorial narrative, and the display of the exhibition in three different venues, ahead of the launch of the book ‘Between the Lines’ in 2013.

‘Between the Lines: Identity, Place and Power’- selections from the Waswo X. Waswo Collection of Indian Printmaking was a groundbreaking exhibition curated by Lina Vincent and presented at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Bengaluru and Mumbai (2012 -13), followed by a publication of the same name. The compilation brought together, for the first time, a large number of historically important artists, master printmakers and young and upcoming practitioners working with print media across India. The exhibition garnered a strong following and became a positive force in the further recognition and acquisition of prints. The collection was donated by Waswo X.Waswo to the Stanley Museum, University of Iowa, United States of America, in 2019, where it will be showcased through the regular programming of the institution.
